I've been inspired by my friend Jason over at Stumbling Towards 30 to try to post here more consistently.
Lots has been going on since I last posted. I've finally finished writing my sketch show. Almost. I have a couple of final things to finish, but it's scheduled to go up on May 17. I'm definitely feeling the pressure now that I have actual dates for the run. I've had some people look at the sketches I've written and they tell me they are funny. However, these have mostly been my friends and fellow performers who like my style. I'm a little worried about a few of the sketches, frankly. They may be a little too dark for some audiences. The right crowd will think they're funny but there are a lot of people who may just groan and think they are sick.
I've already assembled my cast for this show. I only need four people, so that's all I've got. I've got four really great performers, though. They all know what they are doing and how good sketch works so I'm comfortable they'll do everything justice and probably even make everything funnier than I wrote. In fact, I wrote one sketch specifically for two of my cast members just so they could play two of their hilarious characters.
Overall, I'm very excited about this show. I hope it goes well. If not, I'm sure I'll learn plenty of lessons for next time. In fact, I'm already formulating some ideas for my next show. I don't want to get ahead of myself, though.
